Summary

Bioenergie Frauenfeld is a state-of-the-art biomass power plant and carbon removal facility that converts forest residue into renewable energy and high-quality biochar. Using advanced thermochemical gasification, the plant generates climate-neutral heat and electricity for the local grid while simultaneously producing biochar, which captures and stores CO₂ that would have otherwise been released through natural decay.

The facility processes locally sourced, untreated waste wood to provide a reliable energy supply for the city of Frauenfeld and utilizes the resulting biochar as a permanent carbon sink. By integrating renewable energy production with carbon sequestration, Bioenergie Frauenfeld serves as a circular economy model that actively reduces atmospheric greenhouse gases while supporting regional energy independence.
